West Virginia managed to beat a ranked team for the third time in seven tries over Antworten

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork. Damian Jones Jersey .com) - Beast Mode needed a big push to score his first touchdown. The Seattle Seahawks needed a little extra to get past the winless Oakland Raiders. Marshawn Lynch scored two touchdowns in the first half, the first after his teammates shoved him into the end zone, and the Seahawks recovered an onside kick at the end of the game to hold off the Raiders for a 30-24 win on Sunday. Lynchs two scores and Bruce Irvins 35-yard touchdown on an interception return helped the Seahawks (5-3) build a 24-3 lead in the first half. Later, a couple of Steven Hauschka field goals in the fourth quarter gave them the cushion they needed after the Raiders (0-8) scored two touchdowns in the third, including one on a blocked punt. Derek Carrs second 1-yard touchdown pass to Mychal Rivera came with 1:52 left in the game but the Raiders couldnt recover an onside kick attempt even after it went through the hands of Seattle tight end Cooper Helfet. Lynch had 21 carries and five catches for 143 combined yards for the Seahawks, who played at CenturyLink Field for the first time since a 30-23 loss to Dallas on Oct. 12. They havent dropped back-to-back games at home in more than two years. The Raiders have lost 14 in a row going into next Sundays game against Peyton Manning and AFC West-leading Denver. Carr passed for 194 yards and threw two interceptions that led to 10 Seattle points in the first half. Russell Wilson passed for 179 yards and rushed for another 31 for Seattle, which stayed within two games of NFC West-leading Arizona. The Raiders got a boost four plays into the second half when Denico Autry squeezed through the line at the Seattle 37 to block Jon Ryans punt and Brice Butler fell on the ball in the end zone, trimming Seattles lead to 24-10. Later, the Raiders took a chance on fourth down at the 1-yard line and Carr rolled right to find Rivera, who leapt to make the catch in the back of the end zone despite tight coverage by Richard Sherman. But Lynchs 39-yard catch-and-run led to Steven Hauschkas 30-yard field goal on the second play of the fourth quarter and Hauschkas third field goal of the game -- from 40 yards -- pushed Seattles lead to 30-17 with 9:19 to play. Carrs pass to Rivera in the left side of the end zone gave the Raiders a shot, but Jermaine Kearse recovered the onside kick attempt after Helfet dropped it. Earlier, after Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 48-yard field goal on the games first drive, Lynch gave Seattle the lead on a 3-yard run at the other end that was more a team effort than usual. Lynch was initially stopped by safety Charles Woodson and linebacker Sio Moore just past the line of scrimmage, but he kept moving his legs, even as tackle Pat Sims had a hold of his right foot. Several Seattle linemen and wide receiver Ricardo Lockette helped push Lynch into the end zone in a pile. Irvin tipped a pass to himself and beat Carr to the end zone for his 35-yard interception return, which gave Seattle a 14-3 lead on the final play of the first quarter. It was the first of three straight turnovers forced by the Seahawks. Sherman intercepted Carr near the right sideline to set up Hauschkas 34-yard field goal and Hauschka recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff after Kearse stripped T.J. Carrie. That led to a 46-yard miss by Hauschka. Lynch had a much easier 5-yard touchdown run with 54 seconds left in the first half, bursting through a big hole to give Seattle a 24-3 lead, which stood at the break after Janikowski pulled a 51-yard field goal try wide right. Game Notes Seattle hasnt lost consecutive games at home since falling to Atlanta and Cincinnati on Oct. 2 and 30, 2011 ... Oaklands last win came at Houston on Nov. 17 last year. With the final four being arguably the four best – and most complete – teams from the regular season, picking a winner is not as easy as it sounds. http://www.shopwarriorsonline.com/Cheap-Chris-Mullin-Warriors-Jersey/ . Pinch-hitter Tommy Medica singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Padres beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 in their first home game since Gwynn died of cancer Monday.MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Its NCAA chances all but gone, West Virginia showed it still has some fight left in a lacklustre season. West Virginia built a 25-point lead and had to withstand 41 points by freshman Andrew Wiggins and a furious comeback by No. 8 Kansas to upset the Jayhawks 92-86 in their Big 12 regular-season finale Saturday. "We just had to stay composed, not get too down, dont say, dang, theyre going to come back," said Eron Harris, who led West Virginia with 28 points. "Youve got to always have confidence in your team that youre going to win." The Mountaineers (17-14, 9-9 Big 12) could have finished with a thud like they had in losing four of their five previous games that reduced them to playing for a spot in the NIT. The young Mountaineers, who have no seniors, watched Kansas tear into the deficit behind Wiggins, who set a season high for scoring and a freshman record for the Jayhawks before fouling out in the final seconds. He also eight rebounds, four blocks and five steals, to go along with 12-of-18 shooting from the field. Ben McLemore has the Kansas single-game freshman scoring record with 36 last season. West Virginia made some clutch free throws in the final minute to thwart the comeback and keep coach Bob Huggins sanity intact. "When we get a little more experience, well handle those things a little better," said Huggins, who earned $25,000 for beating Kansas in the regular season, one of the bonus clauses in a 2012 contract extension. Juwan Staten added 24 points and Devin Williams, WVUs star freshman, had a season-high 22 points along with 13 rebounds. It marked the first time this season that Kansas had allowed three opposing players to score 20 points. "I thought Staten controlled the game," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "Harris was terrific and Williams was by far the best big in the game. "They were terrific and then we didnt guard at all. Weve gone through stretches this year where we havent guarded well, but thats probably as poor as weve been. But give them credit, they were a lot better than us offensively than we were defensively." West Virginia shot 53 per cent from the floor and outrebounded Kansas 37-31. Perry Ellis added 14 points for Kansas (23-8, 14-4), whicch clinched its 10th straight regular-season title a week ago and had little riding on this game. JaVale McGee Jersey. The Jayhawks will have a first-round bye in the conference tournament that begins Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo. Kansas was without 7-foot freshman Joel Embiid, who sat out his second straight game to rest a lower back strain. Tarik Black, starting in Embiids place, went to the bench with his second foul four minutes into the game. The Mountaineers led nearly the entire game but fell apart down the stretch. Still, West Virginia managed to beat a ranked team for the third time in seven tries over the past month. Kansas went more than seven minutes without a field goal spanning the halves and found itself with its biggest deficit of the season, 64-39, with 16:43 left in the game after a Harris 3-pointer. But the Mountaineers have had trouble holding double-digit leads this season, and Kansas -- especially Wiggins -- was hardly done. West Virginia struggled against Kansas full-court press, and Wiggins followed Landen Lucas three-point play with four free throws and a 3-pointer over a 47-second span to pull Kansas within 78-68 with 6:13 remaining. Wiggins scored 14 straight points at one point for the Jayhawks. Frank Masons 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 85-80 with 1:24 left. But West Virginia made 7 of 8 free throws in the final minute to hang on. Backups Lucas and Jamari Traylor couldnt keep up with Williams, who scored 10 straight points for the Mountaineers at one point. He had 18 in the first half to give the Mountaineers a 50-38 halftime lead -- the most points given up by the Jayhawks in the first half this season. "I thought Devin played really well," Huggins said. "(He) scored it through contact and made open shots, which he does in practice. And then he rebounds the ball for us. Hes the one guy who can really go rebound it in a crowd." West Virginia had its second sellout of the season, thanks to hundreds of Kansas fans who made the 900-mile trek east and those especially coming to see Wiggins, who played his high school ball on the other side of the state at Huntington Prep. "Ive never seen him play like that," Huggins said. "When he makes shots hes really difficult to defend."
