This means that the rotor is automatically detached from the barrel after it has been fully wound. This optimizes barrel torque and ensures consistent performance. When the power reserve approaches 40 hours, the oscillating weight re-engages to wind the mainspring barrel, ensuring that time accuracy is always maintained.
